2016 Week 30 Recap: Priorities vs Commitments

July 18-24, 2016

Work

Our HR department, who are the process owners of the systems we are deploying decided to delay it to two weeks because of employee readiness. According to them, not all employees have attended the training still. This impacts 15K+ employees and this translates to their payroll so it is really important for employees to undergo the training. Keri lang. We are slowly implementing what we can implement in advance. We will still get there in two weeks. Why in two weeks? Because we also need to time our implementation based on Payroll cut-off. Ours are  days 7-21 for end of month and 22-6 for the 15th. So all implementations should be guided by these days to lessen/totally avoid risks.

Basta kami sa team, keep calm and deploy pa rin hehehe.

Priorities vs. Commitments

Eto medyo nawindang ako last week hehe. Months ago, I said yes to a 1st birthday party on the 23rd and a wedding on the 24th. Last Monday, my favorite tita messaged me to go to their place last weekend for their house blessing. I declined at first because I don't want to be stressed of choosing between the events and going through the process of letting those people know that suddenly I can't go to their events anymore.

But I felt guilty. Event ng tita ko yun eh. I was looking forward to that event kasi milestone yun ng family nila. Yung tita kong yun and her husband, sila kasi yung madalas sa bahay namin talaga. Ilang years nang sa bahay sila lagi for New Year. So big deal talaga sa akin yung pagpunta/or di pagpunta sa event nila.

Come Wednesday, my officemate and I were talking about how to go to the venue. She mentioned that the wedding was on the 23rd. Nawindang ako at napakalkal ng FB messages. At 23rd nga talaga  so conflict na sya don sa birthday party :(. Thursday night, my tita was asking me again if I really can't go to their house blessing. Tinanong ko sya if magtatampo ba sya if di ako nagpunta. Silent treatment ang inabot ko. Mas lalo akong naguilty. Come Friday, I really felt uneasy na. I told my officemate that I was having second thoughts. Sabi ko, I think my best option was just to go home and don't attend both events na lang. Ganon. Syempre drama-rama with my officemate. I decided until the last minute possible. Umuwi pa ako ng apartment para maglaba. Nakapag-games pa ako. Pero come 3AM, I decided to go home na. I remember nasabi ko in one of my blog posts na first come, first served na lahat ng events na pupuntahan ko, unless may sumingit na pang pamilyang ganap. Eto na yun. Family comes first. And so....

Weekend

Carrots....ng kapitbahay nila hahaha
Eto ang view nila. Tanaw ang garden ng kapitbahay hahaha. Carrots yung tanim. So refreshing! Anyway, so glad I made that decision. At syempre kailangan matulog sa kanila. Sa lahat ng galing ng Baguio (sa Atok sila nakatira), ako lang nagstay for the night hahaha. Single eh. Hokey.

The next morning, I need to leave early dapat for the 10 AM mass sa Baguio. Early as in at 7AM, dapat nakasakay na ako ng bus.

Napakahirap magschedule with him since he works on weekends. Akalain mo yun hehehe. While it was not always smooth sailing, milestone yun for us so big deal sya for me, kahit di big deal masyado sa kanya ang mga ganon. Ayun. Simple lang pero  masaya naman.
I asked him to take our selfie/groufie...whatever.

Kaloka! Hahaha!
Blessing in disguise din that I was not able to attend the 10AM mass. At least I was able to see her pregnant before she gives birth to her baby boy. Malapit na kasi yun!

Anyway, yun lang ang mga chika ko. Nobela. Have a great week ahead.

P.S.1. Napaka-aligaga ng morning namin because some friends are trying to book tickets for the Wicked show in February 2017. Upon opening dapat since there's a 10% discount if you use Visa to book. Sayang din. Php1,645.88 yung final price after discount, kasama na dyan service charge. Yung original price ata is Php1,700++.

P.S. 2. Gusto kong manood ng SONA ni PDu30. Sang link kaya pwede? Hehehe.

2016 Week 29 Recap: Back to the Real World

July 11-17, 2016

Work

I am so excited! We started deploying some of the components this week. While it will be busy until we complete everything and ensure that there will be no more issues, I am so happy to finally see this project in its completion stage. Hopefully, there will only be few issues. This implementation will affect around 15K PH employees so it's a little intimidating but I know we've all done our best to minimize whatever risks there are. I am confident that all issues will be addressed as quickly as we can. Kaka-excite talaga! :)

Travel

I have started posting my Japan stories. I have most of the narratives completed, as I started writing all about it at the airport while waiting for my friend to refund her ICOCA card (OSAKA IC card). However, I wanted to post with pictures in it and it's taking me longer to sort out/select the pictures hehehehe. Anyway, I'll get there. Matatapos ko rin i-post lahat.

Speaking of travel, another friend is requesting for travel to a beautiful beach daw. Stressed si ateng. Gusto mag-out of town. Hopefully, we can find a reasonably priced place that's near Manila.

Savings and Investments

I'm thankful that the Japan trip is over. While it's exciting to always travel, I would like to pause for a while. I'd like to focus on building up my savings. I'd like to reach my first million in cash and investments, excluding real estate :).

Weekend

I missed malling so I met with my friend yesterday for dinner and to hand her the Japan goodies for her. We met in Glorietta. We went to SM Makati after. I saw that Loreal still has their free hair color application when you buy their hair color. I wanted to avail of it so earlier today, I went back. Unfortunately, I have my hair rebonded last May and they have strict rules that they won't color if rebond session is less than 3 months. So better be safe than sorry hehe. I'll just go back in August. So another malling session for us. She met up with me again because she's supposed to see my new hair color pero dahil di natuloy, ikot ikot na lang hehehe.

Ahhh, I was also looking for a blouse that I can pair with the skirt I bought around 2 months ago. I am attending a wedding next week and the theme is rock and roll, so casual ang peg. However, medyo kupas na ang mga blouses na meron ako na pwedeng i-terno don sa skirt so I decided to look around. Nakahanap naman ako, and more hehehehe. I was able to buy a dress na parang sinukat lang para sa akin. Di ko na pinakawalan. Bihira kasing mangyari yun sa laki kong 'to.

Ok, that's it for now. Good night and may you all have a great week ahead :).

2016 Week 28 Recap: A Week in Japan

July 4-10, 2016

A friend and I visited Japan last week. We were back yesterday. We had a blast! I am forever thankful to our Heavenly Father for the blessings that enabled me to do this trip.

I'll share about our trip in upcoming posts. I'll also include our expenses. I actually started it while we were in Japan but I got sick and we were always tired at the end of the day so it was better to rest as soon as we can hehe. #tanders

Cheers to a productive week ahead.

2016 Week 27 Recap: Hello Japan!

Work

Work muna.

Deployment series starts week after next week! While there are still items to close and while final decision of executives will happen next week, we are positive that that meeting will just be all formalities and it will still be a go. I made sure all pre-deployment requirements are in place bago ako nagfile ng bonggang 1 week leave next week para di na makapag-no si boss hehehehe.

Oh, I was also nominated by my boss for a raise! She had me signed the papers last Friday. First payout will be end of July. Maliit lang pero a raise is still a raise especially after years of not getting one because of conservative spending. Pwede nang pandagdag ipon yun.

Travel
We are leaving for Japan later!!!!! Now, the excitement is building up. To be honest, I was not really excited at first when our visas got approved because I was anticipating conflicts with work. However, some of the big bosses were on leave the past week, therefore our project manager had to move the go/no go meeting next week. And while waiting for their final decision, we cannot really go all out with the implementation. Ang galing lang talaga. The universe conspired and everything aligned hehehe. Thank you, Lord.

However, ayun lang. I don't know our exact itinerary. So whether chill or kuracha, keri lang.

I just finished packing. Ang tagal ko matapos. Di na sanay magtravel. Well, it's been a while din kasi. Last out of the country trip was in April 2013 pa. Even local travels na pangmatagalan, 2013 din yung last ko.

I'll try to share our Pasyal Japan as soon as I can hehe.

Weekend
I spent my weekend planning what to bring and doing last minute shopping for things I need in this trip.

Some friends and I also watched Achy Breaky Hearts this afternoon. Fan kasi ako ni JSM and RY hehehe. At medyo nakakarelate kasi ako sa linyang "kailan ka ikakasal?". Bakit nga ba masyadong big deal yun? Worst pa was I was asked that many times during the wake of my parents. Basta ang sa akin, if it's meant to be, it will happen kahit kailan pa yan. No need to stress about it.

O sya, need to try sleeping even for just a few hours. Have a great week ahead. Oh, looks like there will be a holiday on July 6! The palace will decide by Monday or Tuesday according to news. Good for all of us working peeps. Good for me kasi nakatipid ako ng isang leave hihihi! Good night!

2016 Week 26 Recap: Work and Travel

June 20-26, 2016

Week 26 recap ko na ‘to, so meaning to say, tapos na tapos na talaga ang first half of the year. OMG lang.

Work
If we implement a big project, there is what we call a go/no go meeting wherein the executives give their “blessing” for project implementation, IF they are satisfied with the overall project status and the risks that go with it. Finally after a long long long (as in years) time, we are almost at the end of this project and got the go signal for implementation from our local leaders. There will be another meeting with the executives from the head office on the first week of July before everything is a go. I am crossing my fingers that it will also be affirmative. Well, we all are, at nang maka-move on na with other projects.

While waiting for the head office decision, we are slowly closing all pending items and preparing for the detailed implementation checklist. It is a little challenging because this involves different departments, different vendors and different components whill will all go live all at the same time. But we can do this!

Travel
My friend received our Japan visas early last week, yey! Single entry only but approved pa rin so keri na hehe. However, she was having second thoughts because of budget. Actually, ako rin because of the timing of our project implementation. However, she still wanted to push through with it so, go go go! Blessing in disguise that the meeting with the head office leaders was moved to July, instead of this week. Meaning to say kasi, we cannot proceed with implementation unless we have their final go signal. So good timing that I’m out on the first week of July, where July 4 is a US holiday, and hopefully, 1 of those days will also be a holiday in the PH because of Ramadan.

So last weekend, I started planning for clothes to pack. Planning pa lang. Packing will be this weekend. I also went to Shang to buy Yen. Ang mahal na! The cheapest that I got was at Php 0.46. BDO was selling it for Php 0.47 and another money changer’s rate was Php 0.4603 (or 0.463). Buy na kesa maubusan pa next weekend. Hopefully, the amount I bought is already enough for the entire trip.

Ok, I hope you all are having a great week.

2016 Week 25 Recap: Staying Home

June 13-19, 2016

Short update.

I was still not feeling well early last week so I opted to go on sick leave on Monday. I also requested to work from home on Tuesday and Wednesday since I was dreading the commute to work, especially that most students were already back in school starting June 13. Yun lang, I missed my teammates' (s', kasi several of them) birthday treat hehe. Keri na. Health first before anything else. Meron pa kasing konting trembling and feeling of weakness nung Wednesday. By Thursday, I was already bored staying at home so I went back to the office. Thanks, Uber hehe.

On Saturday, one friend wanted to go out and do something, anything so I suggested that we meet on Saturday night for dinner and movies. Saturday night since she works on night shift so day time talaga ang rest day nya. Also, it was Father's Day on Sunday, so there might be too many people.

I attended an anticipated mass before we met, in case I will get lazy to go out on Sunday.

We had dinner at Lombardi's (again) at Shang. Gusto ko uli kasi matikman yung cherry walnut cheesecake nila hehe. Plus all the other restos were full that time. Dinner time na kasi. We watched the last full show of Me Before You, after. Nakakaiyak huhu. But realistic naman. Pero nakakaiyak pa rin. I was planning to read the book pero after watching the movie, huwag na lang. Nakakaiyak talaga kasi hehehe.

That's it, pancit. And now, more than halfway of this week has gone by again.

2016 Week 24 Recap: The Yearly Visit of the Dreaded Flu

June 6 - 12, 2016

Every year, the flu visits me. And more often than not, it visits me in the middle of the year. And it's not just the "hey, I'm here, ktnxbye" type of thing.  It stays with me for several days and it makes me feel like a withered vegetable. This year, it happened last weekend. I felt the symptoms on Thursday. At first, I thought it was just because of staying late the previous night and waking up early in time for a meeting. But it got worst on Friday, which prompted me to cancel my weekend plans just to stay at home and sleep, chug liters and liters of water, double dose on vitamin C, and be a couch potato for the most part.

We were supposed to watch some of the movies in the French Film Festival at Greenbelt 3. But was not able due to my yearly visitor.

While I was on imposed house arrest, I tried and successfully finished reading How to Build a Happy Family, a book by Bo Sanchez. It was an easy read and has less than 200 pages that's why it was not a torture to my brain cells. The book discusses 7 steps to renew, bless and heal our most important relationships.

And so I have nothing more interesting to write hehehe....

Oh, another kiddie birthday party to go to next month. Venue is walking distance from my apartment. Buti na lang hehehehe.

And yet another (meron pa pala hehe)...I'm done paying the lot I bought 3 years ago!!!! I made my last payment last Friday! Ahhhhh, freedom from payments! 1 down, 1 more to go. Next up is to save up for the title processing, which I hope won't cost that much. No updated estimates yet from the lot owners.

Anyway, hope you all had a great week. Hoping for a better week!

2016 Week 23 Recap: Happy Birthday, Kiddos!

May 30 - June 5, 2016

Work

All of us are really just trying complete everything before the big launch. Aside from the final stages of testing, we still have the reports to finalize. Deployment planning meetings are more frequent nowadays too. I just can't wait for this to be completed.

Travel

I received a call from Discovery Tour last Monday, informing me that my NSO-issued birth certificate is not readable enough so they were requesting me to submit even a certified true copy from my local registry. Good thing that I still have extra copies of the one my father requested for me more than a decade ago (as in January 2001). I asked if that was ok and they said yes so I sent it over last Wednesday. I did not receive any other calls so I'm assuming that the copy I sent would work. Still crossing my fingers that our visas will be approved.

Up next, my friend and I would need to finalize our itinerary so that we can start searching for the most economical train tickets to buy. My boss mentioned before about JR pass and that might work for us depending on our itinerary. Research, research, research! Am I excited? Mixed emotions, to be honest hehehe. But I'm sure I'll enjoy this trip no matter what.

Weekend

Our former colleague's kids turns 1 and 3 this June and so they had a combined birthday party, which a friend and I attended on Saturday, just so we have something to do on a weekend hahaha! Plus, the event was near our apartments so dyahe namang mag-no pa di ba? My friend and I met first at Shang to buy gifts. Thanks to an ongoing sale at Osh Kosh, we were able to buy cute dresses for 50% off and 30% off. We decided on "group gift" so we just split the total amount. Hay buti na lang. Medyo nakatipid ako don, pero yung naitipid ko, ipinanood namin ng sine after the children's party hehehe.

Realizations during the party:
  • We also need to be bibo as parents because we need to help our children during games hahaha
  • Hats off to the dads who were game to participate in one of the games. Aliw.
  • Parang gusto ko na rin ng anak. Nuninuninuninu! :p

And speaking of children's party, may isa pa akong pupuntahan sa July naman hehehe.

We went back to Shang at around 6:30 PM to watch The Nice Guys. It's a comedy film and it did not fail to make us laugh. Also, I have a lot of "anong katangahan yan?!!!" moments hehehe. We went home after the movies.

I'm trying to spend as much time as I can with this friend because by God's grace, she may be leaving for the US later this year. I'm praying that her and her fiance's plans and application be granted. She deserves it. But before that, I hope we can also go back to Caramoan. We went there in 2012 and it was just so beautiful and untouched that we greatly enjoyed everything about the place despite being scammed by the promo we got from one of the groupon sites. Can't remember anymore which site was that. Sana matuloy.

I went to mass on Sunday and spent some time at the mall looking for doll shoes. My problem however is that, I can't wear super flat shoes because it triggers my plantar fasciitis, something that I don't want to have again because, ouch ouch ouch! It was an unfruitful search so I just treated myself to beef stew and pecan pie for lunch at Almond Marina. I dropped by Watson's later for some toiletries. Oh, I also was able to buy Treseme conditioner for a 30% discount! From Php 399 to Php 289! Pwede naman palang ganon kababa, bakit ba nila tinaasan presyo nito. Ang ganda pa naman sana. I'm thinking of buying more hehehe. Anyway, went home after that and spent the rest of the day watching TV while checking things online.

Another story...while on our way to Shang, we passed by a couple on the road. The girl was foreigner, the guy looks Pinoy. It looks like they were about to part ways and the guy was being sweet but looks like the girl was not happy as she was searching for something in her bag. I don't know why but I have a bad feeling that the guy may just be using the girl. I seriously hope I am wrong though.

Anyway, I hope you all had a great week. Cheers to another great week ahead.

2016 Week 22 Recap: Japan Japan!

May 23-29, 2016

Travel
My friend and I are pushing through with our Japan travel in July. I can't believe July is just around the corner. Time flies at over-speeding pace hehe. Anyway, I learned that all Japan visa applications can only be processed through accredited travel agencies. We coursed ours through Discover Tour, the same agency my friend used when they went to Mt. Fuji in 2015. Processing fee per person is Php 800.00 plus DHL's delivery charge of Php 300.00 per package but this we still have to confirm because the change may have changed. Crossing our fingers for our visa's approval hehe. We'll know after 7 days.

Next up for us will be to finalize our itinerary and buy tickets in advance as applicable.

Weekend
I missed Makati so I asked my friend to accompany me roam around it on Saturday. I was able to buy a skirt at Landmark bazaar for less than Php 200.00 hehehe.  I'm not really into dresses and skirts but I'm keeping some pieces for those times I need to. We also enjoyed Dad's merienda. Lamon pa more hahaha.

On Sunday, it was just supposed to be mass and window shopping for shoes for me but my other friend requested if we can go out. She needs distraction since her fiance just went back to the US on Sunday morning and she didn't want to be alone and just cry all day hehehe. So out we met at Shang for lunch, nail spa and movie.

We ate at Lombardi's, an Italian restaurant the the East wing of Shang. It was both our first time and we both agreed that everything was good. We feasted on pizza, pasta and cherry walnut cheesecake. Haayyy....the cheesecake was so yummy! It's now my new favorite hehehe. Expensive though hehehe. But I think everything was worth what we paid for.

We went to Nail Spa, the only nail salon in Shang, after lunch for a much needed TLC for our hands and feet.

We also watched Money Monster after. I did not know what the movie was all about prior buying our tickets but it was just the only movie we both wanted to take a chance on since it has George Clooney and Julia Roberts in it haha. But surprisingly, I enjoyed it because of the financial market component.

Went home after and spent the rest of the evening watching Sunday shows in ABS-CBN. Vizco's, where I had breakfast on my birthday last March, and some other eateries in Baguio were featured in Rated K! A friend and I are now planning to try those hahaha. The question is, when? We'll see about that.

TOTGA
My TOTGA (the one that got away) to this date was a dress I saw and liked in December, but did not buy because it was expensive and was not what I needed. I saw it again in April, but still hesitant in buying it because it was still not discounted. Now, I consider it my TOTGA as of Saturday because I might be attending a wedding in July and that dress would have been perfect for the occasion haaayy. So good luck with the dress hunting again hehehe,

Anyway, I hope you all had a great week. Cheers to another great week ahead.

2016 Week 21 Recap: Work Updates + Meeting Mr. Law

May 16-22, 2016

Work
We have been doing this one project for the longest time and I really really really want it out of my plate na. I want it deployed in July. Kaya kahit mahirap na, pinipilit ko na lang talagang tapusin lahat ng kailangan tapusin so that our team won't be the cause of all delays. It's always a roller coaster ride for this project. Everyone's becoming restless (and more short-tempered) while they catch up with all their deliverables. There should be zero room for errors because of the big scope of the project plus the amount of data to migrate. One small mistake will surely impact the rest of the project's components. Therefore, the deployment should be well planned, well thougt of and all resources MUST be aligned at all times. In short, bawal nganga hehehe. Basta gusto ko na lang madeploy ito. Siguro maiiyak ako after ng deployment. Hehehe.

Weekend
My friend's American boyfriend was in town for the first time, to visit her. She invited us to have lunch with them last Sunday, just few hours upon his arrival hehe. He's staying here for a week so their schedule is jampacked. I feel that he is a good man. I hope everything will turn out well for him and my friend. My friend deserves only the best.

After lunch, another friend and I went to S&R Shaw to check out the items on sale. We were able to buy Tresemme shampoo and conditioner. Hopefully, it will be good to our hair because it is our first time to use the Split Repair variant. It's not that our hairs have split ends. We just love the smell of this variant among the items on sale hehehe.

Went home after to just rest aka watch the Sunday shows. It's been a while since I last watched TV that long hahaha.

Late post yet again.

2016 Week 20 Recap: Movie Marathon

May 9-15, 2016

Monday, May 9 was election day. I was planning to go early so that I can leave for Manila earlier, but well, hello sleep hehehe. It was almost closing time when I reached the precinct but at least there were no more lines. Done voting in less than 5 minutes. I double checked my receipt and it had all the names I shaded. I was relieved.

I am also glad election is over. It is our responsibility as Filipinos to support the new administration, regardless if it was our candidate of choice who won or not. Again, it is our responsibility.

I proceeded to town after voting. I had an early dinner at Vizcos and then was able to ride a 7PM Victory Liner trip. No long lines this time, thank God. Arrived in Manila at around 1AM so at least there was still enough time to rest before the new work week.

Project MTM
I haven't gone back to graduate school yet since after my father died in 2015. Until now, I'm still contemplating whether to push through or not. Contemplating because, I think I would like to take a new path now. But while I haven't fully decided yet to stop, I met up with a classmate to copy her reviewers. We spent the whole morning discussing about her new venture and sometimes about our future plans. I wish her well.

Unfortunately, it seems like the USB got corrupted huhuhu so I need to copy from her again. Bad thing though is that, my most recent financial files are there and I haven't backed those up in the laptop. Hay naku.

Weekend
I can't remember the last time I watched a movie. I think I wanted to watch a movie in February but was not able to do it. I also have 2 tickets I won last December during our team party. It did not have an expiration date but better to use it now just to be sure. And so, my friend and I did a movie marathon. Not 2 but 3 movies hehehe. In between the movies were spent eating and window shopping. We also availed of Dad's merienda buffet, the bill paid by my friend hehe. We also checked out some of the shops and tried some clothes. No buying.

Speaking of buying, I want to buy a Samsonite luggage. Citibank has a 15% discount promo until May 31. However, I don't know anyone who owns a Citibank credit card. My previous applications were always denied. According to HR friends, it is because I work in a BPO. Huwell. Let's see about the luggage din.

Since it was a payday weekend, there were a lot of people at the mall. Daming pera mga tao hehehe. Sana lang nakapagtabi na muna sila for savings bago sila magwaldas.

I hope you all had a great week. Cheers to another great week ahead.

2016 Week 19 Recap: The Challenge of Going Home

May 2-8, 2016

Nowadays, ticket reservations going to Baguio is a must. But I never learn hehehe. It was a long weekend but I thought that since it was election day, people will be going home to their provinces and so I did not buy tickets ahead of time. I left the office at the latest possible time, around 2:30 AM last May 7 thinking that when I get to the Victory Liner terminal in Cubao, there will be fewer chance passengers by then. But I was wrong. The line was still long, and at that time, there was no Baguio-bound bus being loaded. It just means one thing. Victory Liner did not add extra buses (I guess). And my best guess was that, I will only be accommodated maybe by 6 or 7 AM. And I was already too sleepy to wait that long.

I took the chance with Joy Bus. I saw online that they had trips at 3:30 AM and 4:30 AM but I was not sure if those schedules posted were updated. Anyway, it was just at the other side of Cubao. If that fails, then I guess, I'll just go home first and travel on Saturday afternoon instead. Luckily, I was enlisted as a chance passenger for the 4:30 AM trip and was accommodated eventually hehehe.

We arrived in Baguio at around 10 AM. I went to SM to stroll a little and buy some groceries for my meals before I headed home to hibernate. And hibernate I did hehe. I did not go out that weekend. I just spent it either in bed or outside to enjoy the cooler weather, sometimes alone, sometimes with my nieces. And I also got to visit the parents' mansions.

How (un)productive hehe.

2016 Week 18 Recap: Team Building

April 25-May 1, 2016

We had our team building last April 29-30 at Terrazas de Punta Fuego in Nasugbu, Batangas. I'm happy that my boss allowed us to just take Friday off, anyway, team building is still an office activity. We stayed at one of the private beach houses there.

What I liked about our accommodation:
  • Spacious for 24 pax
  • Super cold aircon in the bedroom.
  • It has its own pool so if you don't want to stay at the beach kasi medyo may kalayuan, pwedeng tumambay dito lalo na sa gabi.
  • The food...super sarap! And more than enough. I was second batch in all 3 meals pero ang dami pa ring tira. And complete with juice/coffeee and desert! Grabe. Busog lusog hehehe. Ang sarap nung cheesecake baked by one of the staff. We ordered the night before for take home the next day.
  • They have a terrace so syempre, automatic na don yung mga nagyoyosi hehe.
  • Their living room is spacious. Sarap tumambay don.
  • The house is surrounded by mountains so it's still a little cooler given that it's summer.
  • The staff were all attentive of our needs. They even prepared a spot for us at the beach for our activities.
  • With entertainment room and game room. Ang hindi ko lang masyadong gusto is that medyo malayo sa beach. Around 15 minutes walk daw papunta, pero pag pabalik, for sure mas matagal kasi puro paakyat yung road. Plus, it's steep. But it's not a problem if may sasakyan naman.
I haven't attended any team building in the past 5 years. Either I have other activities scheduled or ayaw ko lang hehehe. So I was pleasantly surprised when my presence was mentioned several times hahaha. And my boss really appreciates it daw. Hehe.

It was pure fun and chill lang. No talks about work. We had one group dynamics and then the rest was free time. Some of us went swimming on Friday afternoon. I just stayed by the seashore and waited for sunset. I specifically requested that in case we still had group activities by the time it was sunset, we stop a while to watch it hehehe.

Swimming at the beach was only until 6 PM so we went back to the house after sunset and proceeded to the pool to keep cool while waiting for dinner. We had card games after dinner. May nagdala rin ng shot. May masipag nagtimpla ng punch. Two kinds of mixes - gin and juice and rum and juice. Well, I'm a social drinker. Di naman sugapa. At depende rin sa mood. At during that time, feel kong uminom. Plus, di naman ganon katapang so masarap.

May isa akong teammate sabi nya pangarap daw nya magmodel. Akala namin nagbibiro sya. Hindi daw. Pinagbigyan namin at instant photoshoot session sya. Nung una, tawanan pa kami. After a few minutes, kinarir na ng iba. It was all fun. Pero surrender na ako ng 2AM. The rest were still all wide awake. Not sure what time they all went to sleep. I allowed myself to just sleep longer. No pressure of going to the beach. Ayun, nagising kami 9AM na. Just enough time to have breakfast, wait for our turn in the shower and get ready for our trip back to Manila. Some still went to the beach for another dip. Ako, pass na. Nagkulong ako sa room dahil sa aircon. Ma-mimiss ko kasi sya.

Some wanted to pass by Tagaytay for lunch. Pero the one with car needed to go back to Manila for another event. Anyway, Tagaytay is my home away from Baguio home kasi taga don hipag ko and I can just go there anytime. Plus, I wanted to go back to Manila earlier because I wanted to meet up with another friend.

And meet up with the friend I did. I just went home to leave my things and went straight to Megamall hehehe. Ang balak ko sana was manood ng Just the 3 of Us ni JLC and Jennylyn Mercado kaso nareschedule pala ang opening! We think it was because of Captain America kasi puro yun ang palabas hehehe.Anyway, we just roamed around for a while then transferred to Shang to have dinner at Rustan's. Don kami medyo tumambay para magkwentuhan.

On Sunday, I met up with another friend and went to our friend's dad's wake. Unfortunately, our friend just left when we arrived at the wake. Her mom said she went home to rest for a little bit. We stayed for around one hour to try and wait for her pero mukhang nakatulog na so hinayaan na lang namin. The mom entertained us. Hay. Nakakalungkot kasi pinatay sya :(. What a waste of life if it's not natural death. Rest in peace na lang po, tito.

Anyway, we went to Starbucks para magpagpag at para makapagkwentuhan na rin since matagal din kaming di nagkita hehehe. We called it a night by 9PM because both of us wanted to rest as early as we can.

Younger than me. Looks like he died in his sleep. Hay. And for some reason, natatakot ako hahaha. As in di ko mapatay ilaw ko sa gabi. I planned to go home early last Friday because I was not able to buy tickets but I changed my mind. Maybe because it brings back memories to when we lost our parents. Anyway, may he rest in peace din.

P.S. Super late post na nito hehehe. Ngayon lang sinipag magtype.

2016 Week 17 Recap: Weekend Lakad

April 18-24, 2016

Last Saturday, a friend and I went to BGC to check out the World Street Food Congress. There were a lot of interesting dishes from the different parts of the world. Everything looks delicious. However, there were a lot of people, the order and claim lines were long in almost all of the stalls, the heat was just so unforgivable (at least to us) and the prices are abit steep for our wallets hehehe. A 500 ml Wilkins water alone costs Php50.00 hehehe. The cheapest I've seen if I'm not mistaken, was Php180.00. Setting aside the price though, my friend and I were willing to at least try some of the food stalls. However, it got a little windy and dust was all around hehehe. So we got disappointed and decided to just leave the place.

From BGC, we went to S&R Shaw. We just missed going around the place and inspect each and every item hehehe. We also missed the pizza and chicken so we had our late lunch there. Most of my breakfast staples were also available and cheaper so did some grocery shopping. It's just too tempting to shop there though, so shopping discipline is a must, otherwise, you'll end up overspending.

I am a little restless these days because of a lot of things going on in my mind so I just stayed home on Sunday. I was about to go out in the evening but I remembered it was the 3rd and final debate of our presidential candidates so I opted to watch it instead. But politics is one that I am not that passoinate about. Let's just say I already have my choices and I respect others' choices. To each his own. Regardless of who wins, I will still continue to strive to be a good Filipino.

I also got hold of news in FB that my uncle in the US (my dad's brother in law) already passed away. Hay. Nakakalungkot. May you rest in peace, uncle. While you are already gone, I know that you will continue looking after auntie. It's time to party in heaven with all the other folks who went ahead of you. I'm sure they all welcomed you in style, I mean the Igorot way - dancing, gong playing, butchered pigs, and a merry feast! Til we meet again.

2016 Week 16 Recap: Weekend Getaway

April 11-17, 2016

Work

Last April 14, my boss asked me to attend a dialogue on her behalf, as requested by one of our partner schools. In summary, the school's goal is to get information and inputs from its industry partners so that they can bridge the gap between their curriculum and the chances of their students being hired after graduation.

It was the school's first time to do it, and it was my first time to attend such an event. It was an eye-opener for me, most especially on the difference of the academe and the industry. And while there are glitches, I'm happy to know that there are schools who initiate such dialogues for the improvement of their curriculum. I'll try to write more about it in another post.

Weekend

Finally had the chance to get out of Manila. A friend invited us to spend the weekend at their home in Lipa. We traveled to Lipa on Saturday afternoon. Sumptuous lunch was waiting for us upon reaching their place hehehe. Lamon galore ang weekend na ito.

After late lunch and few minutes of rest, we proceeded to the Bluroze Farms Parks and Wildlife. It's a mini zoo in Lipa where the animals can freely roam around in their provided wide open spaces. The area itself is big. However, we were not able to roam around the place because we arrived there at 6PM and they close at 7PM, and even before 7PM struck, it was already dark so we had to leave hehehe. By the way, we paid Php120.00 entrance fee.

We proceeded to the San Sebastian Cathedral next. It is a big church with beautiful architecture. From the Cathedral, we went across the street to check out the night market. It's a mixture of cooked food and more food and more and more food and some stalls also sell mostly clothes. While we did not have any intentions of buying, it was fun checking out the stalls and be amazed by all the delicious looking food hehehe. In fairness, there were a lot of people that night. Maybe it's the usual time for the people of Lipa to spend time outside.

Because we wanted a sit down dinner, we avoided buying food at the night market. We went to LBN bar and restaurant for dinner. We wanted to order lomi but the restaurant only serves it until 7:30 PM. We arrived at 8PM. We settled for the usual pork sisig, grilled tuna belly and chopsuey. We also had one glass of margarita to cap the night. There was a live band while we were there so it must be our lucky night hehe.

On Sunday, my friend and I attended mass at the Cathedral. After a hearty breakfast, we proceeded to La Virginia Resort and Hotel for a much needed dip in the pool to at least beat the summer heat. Entrance fee for day tour is Php320.00. We did not rent a cottage since we did not have packed lunch. We just had lunch at their restaurant.

The place has 4 or 5 pools so even with the many guests, the pools were not crowded. We surveyed the place a little before settling to a pool with lesser people. We just wanted to stay in the water and exchange stories so the lesser the people, the better hehehe. We stayed in the pool for about 3 hours before taking our late lunch. We planned it that way so that we don't go to the restaurant together with the crowd.

One store at my friend's place sells halo-halo in buko. The buko juice and the buko itsself becomes part of the hal-halo. We tried it even if we were still full from lunch and even if we also had halo-halo at the restaurant. It was my first time to see such so buy na!

We left Lipa at around 6:30PM and back in Manila by 8:30PM. Thank God for a quick and traffic-less travel. And thank you for generous friends who are willing to host you even for just the weekend hehe.

Some pictures of the weekend.

2016 Week 15 Recap: Anyare?!!!

April 4-10, 2016

Puro work updates. The boss of the boss treated us to Chili's last Friday.

He was in Tokyo, Japan with his family last Holy Week. Kaya pala wala sya that week at di na nagfollow up sa tinatanong nya sa akin that time hehe. Or baka ok na sa kanya yung last reply ko hehe. Anyway, so syempre na-share kong punta rin kami sa Japan this July. At Summer daw non, mainit. Basta ang tip nya ay i-reseach daw namin ang most cost effective option/s for the train tickets kasi marami daw pero may best option based on our IT. Plus, sabi nya, use Google maps daw because it's so helpful. Just input your starting point and destination and Google maps will tell you what train line, and most importantly where to exit. Each station has so many exits daw kasi so nakakalito talaga if wala kang guide.

And last weekend was the most stressful yet this year. We had an issue with the system that processes our attendance data and since prerequisite ito ng Payroll, mas lalong naka kaloka. I spent my weekend waiting for updates and thinking of all other options we can propose just in case hindi talaga kakayaning maayos.

It was the first time the issue occurred so clueless talaga kaming lahat anong meron kasi maayos naman syang tumatakbo ever since 6 years ago.

Good thing na rin that our resources were committed to resolve the problem. Ang galing nung bata. Salamat na lang at sya ang resource. No findings after namin madeploy yung fix.

Anyway, move on na.

If ok pa sa May, then baka ampunin ko muna sila. We'll see.

Hoping for a better week.

2016 Week 14 Recap: Ad hoc project = Hectic

March 28 - April 2, 2016

And just like that, we're done with the 1st quarter of 2016. Whew!

Work

The ad hoc project where we need to fix systems ASAP made the team busy last week. The kind of busy that you need to extend hours most of the days to get things done. What a relief when Friday rolled in hahaha.

Anyway, most of the target deliverable for last week were completed. The ones left were not really critical but still needs to be checked nonetheless. We are moving on to the next step this week and next week, and that's the end user's testing. Crossing my fingers that there will be no issues. Otherwise, it means we did not test well hehe.

Oh, and finally, the vendor for another project showed up. Pero hay naku pa rin!

Living Quarters

So it's really bye Sky Cable for me since last week. My digibox was pulled out last Wednesday. The coming bill should be my last.

Weekend

We availed of a promo at Lee Hak Korean Restaurant at Pioneer Center, Kapitolyo, Pasig. Php 322 for a weekend lunch buffet, unlimitted iced tea included. To me, the food was ok for the price (but I'm not choosy in general). According to my friend who is more versed in anything Korean, their food was somewhat "Filipinized". While the selection may be few for some, it was enough for me as it's not overwhelming which ones to choose. They don't have much dessert options though. I guess there were just 2 fruits. But for that price, I think we got our money's worth.

We dropped by EDSA Shangri-la because my friend was interested to check out the wedding expo to get some ideas for her brother who sometimes does styling in weddings. While the prices were overwhelming, we enjoyed all the displays. We were especially amazed by the Ecuadorian roses displayed by one supplier. They had big, beautiful roses!

Beautiful Ecuadorian roses in different colors!

We were amazed by these roses in glass (or not sure if it's plastic) bubbles!

Golden Winterland, which I liked the most. Simple and clean. I'm sure your color motif will be highlighted if you have this setting in your reception. Ganda lang!
We also passed by a Starbucks event at the Shang mall so we spent a few minutes there. There were lectures about their different types of coffee and demo on their new coffee presses. We were treated to free coffee in different variety. It was good to know that the Kape Vinta coffee beans is from  the Philippines.
From the Starbucks website

From the Starbucks website
Random thoughts while we were in that event.
Me: I want to get rich through agriculture. Why can some people do it and we can't?
Friend: You need to have hectares of land so that you can produce enough to supply the big chains.
Me: nuninuninuni

But let's see about this dream. There has to be a way.

We went to Megamall less than an hour before closing time to check out the treadmills.

Sunday was spent doing some domestic chores and mass.

I hope you all had a great week. Cheers to another great week ahead.

2016 Week 13 Recap: Holy Week Break

March 21-27, 2016

I hope you all had a meaningful Holy Week.

Work

I had two days of work last week since I took the day off on March 23. We are struggling with debugging some reports because we have restricted access to the vendor’s server and we are highly dependent on our US counterpart. I feel helpless and frustrated until now especially every time I receive replies to my emails saying that they can’t quite get what I mean by so and so. Hay. But work is work and so we have to continue finding a way to work best even with a lot of restrictions.

Birthday

I had a great birthday and I am thankful for another year. I was able to accomplish all that I’ve planned for that day. More details here

Holy Week Break

After a birthday dinner on Wednesday, I went home to my brother’s place because it was more accessible and safer especially at night. I also spent most of Thursday at my brother’s place. My sister-in-law’s cousin was generous enough and let us to use their car so my brother and his family accompanied me home. Thankful for that because it was easier to run errands (aka buy paint and groceries) and we were able to avoid the downtown traffic hehe. Thanks, kuya. Plus, my nephew had the chance to light candles for his lolo and lola.

On Good Friday, my younger brother and I worked on the gates and railing. We painted it with primer just to control the rust. Just a temporary solution in the meantime that I’m still undecided what color use for the exterior of the house, plus of course the budget is still elusive hehehe.

As there was still daylight, I gathered the weeds that I removed from the backyard last December in one place. I'll wait for these to decompose and use it for my flower pots.

On Saturday, my tita, tito, brother + kid, cousin +kid visited three sick relatives, two of which are my mother’s brothers and the other one is my mother’s first cousin (our tita) whom she was close to when she was still alive. Two out of three were thinking maybe it was already their time to go hehehe. I suspected that of my uncle, since he’s now the same age when my mom died and he’s next to my mom by birth order. Hay gusto kong batukan mga matatanda. No, they should not be thinking of those things even if they go there eventually. Kanya-kanyang timeline naman yan. Besides, I am not yet ready to face another death in the family. Our tita looks older now as compared to the last time I saw her but still talkative. She said she’ll wait for my wedding and volunteered to walk me down the aisle since she’s not that optimistic anymore to do that for her own daughter because it looks like my cousin does not have the plans of tying the knot soon. Nakaka-pressure naman. Wala pa nga yun sa radar namin (or baka ako lang pala hehehe). Anyway, we’ll see.

After the visits, my tita, tito and I attended the Easter vigil mass.

On Sunday, I requested the family to go on a picnic at Burnham. I invited my tita’s family and my cousins’ kids, whoever would like to come. I just want the kids to bond and play and just be kids. It is important for me that they grow up knowing each other so that when they grow old, I hope that they will also be each other’s support system. It’s also my birthday treat to them. Nothing fancy. Rice was cooked at home, and we just bought 2 viands from Good Taste (one of the famous and more affordable restaurants in Baguio), and ice cream. Panulak? Tubig lang hahaha. Tipid mode eh :p.

It was bye Baguio in the evening and back in your arms, Manila at around 2 AM of March 28.

I hope you all had a great week. Cheers to another great week ahead.

2016 Week 12 Recap: Eating Galore

Work

So, while we were busy closing all the issues on a major project so that we can move on to the next stage, a teammate accidentally discovered that our system is running out of employee numbers in the 6 series. End result if we don't fix this? Some will not be paid. While there is always the option to go manual, it's complicated and will have more room for human errors when you're in a BPO where operations is 24 hours. Given this, we need to implement the fix in one month or less...or else....hahaha. Kaya 'to.

On another note, the March birthday celebrants and those newly hired (for their first blood) treated the team to buffet dinner at Don Day. Busog lusog for everyone hehehe.

Living Quarters

Unfortunately, the pechay I planted did not survive sniff sniff sniff :(. Maybe it's the weather and my limited location. My aunt said it would have been better if they get the morning sunshine. Mine gets the afternoon sunshine eh. The soil may be another factor. Not too fertile. I'll make some compost first this summer so that it gets fertilized. I'll try to plant again during the rainy season when the heat is more forgiving.

Weekend

We were supposed to visit Pinto Museum but had to postpone for some other time. My friend is going through a rough time and does not feel like going out. So, instead, I just treated her to a buffet dinner at Seven Corners at Crown Plaza Manila Galleria. Lamon pa more hehehe. Plus, there's a 50% off on your birth month if you pay using your BDO credit card. But I think that's just if there are 2 of you eating. It's a different discount (I think) if there's 3 or more. The information is in BDO's site.

It's Palm Sunday today, the official start of the Holy Week. Just attended the mass this morning.

Dropped by SM Megamall for some errands. Also checked out the National Food Fair at the Mega Trade Hall. All regions in the entire country are represented. Most stalls have free taste hehehe. It's always good to see entrepreneurs showcase their products. I'm amazed at their entrepreneurial skills for them to be able to come up with a unique product that can be showcased in events such as this. I always wonder where my entrepreneurial sense is every time I see events such as this hehe. Hopefully, the DTI do these types of things more frequently. Or maybe they do, I'm just not updated.

I also wanted to buy some of the products but I had to control myself because I'll be out most days of next week so I'll be turning off my ref.

That's it pansit! I'm excited to go home this Holy Week. Time to bond again with the nieces. No outing. Maybe just a picnic at Burnham on Easter Sunday but we'll see. I'll just stay home for the rest of the break.

Got to go for now. I'm watching he PiliPinas Debates 2016 via live streaming. It's entertaining but I also cringe sometimes at some of the answers.

I hope you all had a great week. Cheers to another great week ahead.

2016 Week 11 Recap: Hectic But All Good

March 7-13, 2016

Work
It was a bit stressful last week but we got by so still good in general. Some of my timelines were affected though so need to strategize on those this week.

Living Quarters
I was expecting Sky Cable last Saturday to disconnect my line and get the digibox. I waited until 6 PM but no one came. Need to follow up again. Kaloka sila.

Weekend
One word-hectic. Hehe. But all good.

We attended the Financial Wellness seminar last Saturday sponsored by BDO. I learned new things, and some of my personal thoughts were validated. More on this in another post.

We also watched Les Miserables on Saturday night. Those actors and actresses must be so talented, skilled and focused to be able to memorize everything, act, sing and set up their props real time. While I have watched the movie in the past, seeing the play on stage was a totally different experience worth spending time and money for. It was a night to remember.

On Sunday, we were supposed to visit the National Museum. Oh wait, we were already there at around 2 PM. However, the line was a little bit long and slow moving and the sun was so unforgiving emitting so much heat. We just aborted the plan and decided to visit another time but ensuring that we go there early the next time around.

From National Museum, we went to Rustan's to avail of Wacoal's promo and a little window shopping for luggage.

Went home earlier than usual as I still had to attend the mass at 6PM and should be home before 8PM for my massage.

I hope you all had a great week. Cheers to another great week ahead.
